DIY: Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub
I love, love, love homemade gifts. I love making them (don't ask my brother about his crocheted scarf; that was a nightmare). I love receiving them. There's just something that means extra when someone takes the time to actually make something specifically for you.
Last night I walked out my friend's house with a crocheted scarf (I need to learn from her; her's looked store bought). And, I left her a jar of this vanilla brown sugar scrub. We just exchanged things that we enjoy making. Nothing fancy.
I think I'll stick to sugar scrubs and detox bath salts. Crocheting is way too big of a commitment for me. But, seriously. It is.
These scrubs are lovely. I kept running to the sink to "test" mine out ask I tweaked the recipe. The recipe isn't much. Low maintenance. Perfect.
The ingredients are easy. So easy. You don't even have to go to the store. Keep those sweatpants on; it's worth it.
Mix in 2 cups brown sugar, 1 cup white granulated sugar. Then, add in one cup of olive oil (coconut oil, sunflower oil, you name it). 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Then, I added a dash of cinnamon for a little more spice. Coconut extract would be good.
This is just a "whatever you're feeling" kind of recipe.
I pulled some adorable glass jars from my parent's basement and wrangled up some around my house to scoop the scrub into.
I decided my jars needed a little pizazz. Jars need that, right? Of course.
So, I made a couple labels to put on lids. Easy peasy. Print them off at home. A couple snips with the scissors, and you're there.
Quite possibly the easiest and most useful Christmas presents I've ever made.
Maybe one day I'll work up the guts to crochet again. I hear arm knitting is easier though...
And, here is the label I used! Pin it to Pinterest and use it if you are needing some last minute gift additions.
